Recession Sales: '55 Chevy Gasser

If I had $10,000 to drop on a car too impractical to drive, this '55 Chevy would be it. The car is listed on the HAMB message board from a seller in Arizona. He lost his job and has bills to pay. So the gasser has got to go. At $10,000 we think it's a steal.
The owner built the shoe box to look like a 60s-era racer, with a straight axle, fenderwell headers and a set of Mickey Thompsons. The big block 454 has been set back ten percent.
Racers back in the day figured the bizarre raised front end would help drag cars hook up faster off the line.
It didn't take many years for physics to prove them wrong, but the gasser look remains one of the coolest, in my opinion. Owner says this one runs and drives. Says he drove it 100 miles in the last week. It's got to be scary as hell on the street, but this one would make a winner at vintage drag events.
