A new federal law meant to keep kids from poisoning themselves with lead-laced toys has also put the kibosh on the sale of pint-sized motorcycles. The law was passed in 2008 after several kids died from ingesting lead from toys. Seems certain motorcycle parts (brake levers, battery terminals) also contain too much lead for the young set. Retailers started pulling the bikes on Tuesday, when the law went into effect.
Motorcycle dealers say they were caught unawares by the law and legislators are said to be hot on the case to bring bikes back.
We're all for rectifying the situation, though we do wonder if riding motorcycles might not be more dangerous than eating lead.

So why do fishing fans get to use lead sinkers?
ReplyDeletethe ban is stupid. even if children die from the toys they have, you won't go around finding kids ingesting parts of their motorcycles...
