We have a soft spot for anything from the '50s with a straight axle and no front bumper. And we think it's bad form to disrespect a car that looks as cool as this '56 Buick gasser for sale on ebay. But the auction ends tomorrow at noon, bidding is up to just under $9,000, and the seller's reserve has not been met. Good luck with your sale, sir, but we're pulling out. We're calling high-end vintage auction blowback on the small fry hotrod. We love the era Mickey Thompson mags and the patina on this car. We love that it's a Buick instead of a '55 to '57 Chevy. We can even understand the snoozer 350 the owner pulled from a '79 El Camino. That's what low-budget hot rodding is about. But we're not paying extra for the shoestring look, rat rod movement be damned. We're waiting for that bubble to burst. Meanwhile, we hear a guy in our neighborhood has a '60s Mustang for sale -- for $1,000. Now that might be worth looking at!
Update Feb. 8-- Bidding ran up to $12,500 and still did not meet the seller's reserve.
