Dear Senators: Does a '63 Corvette Qualify?

The Senate on Wednesday approved an amendment to allow car buyers to write off sales taxes and interest on auto loans. The cars must be made in America (foreign Dixie-boxes do qualify). We have no interest in a new car, but we would like to know if a '63 Corvette qualifies. We understand the amendment is meant give a boost to American car manufacturers (call it a side bailout), but we think the Corvette would go further to help the American consumer pass through the funk of the present economic slump than a new Pontiac. The jobless man will spend hours in his garage rubbing it with a soft cloth, feeling good about future. The 'Vette is also better economic choice, sure to grow in value, unlike our 401K. So please, don't push us into debt for something we don't want and don't need. Make us happy. Give us the Corvette. You'll have our vote.
