Citroen to Reissue the "Goddess"

On the heels of the retro design craze that launched the new Mini Cooper (we like) and the new Beetle (a little too precious), Citroen is set to reissue a version of its popular DS model, the funky submarine-looking thingie from the 1950s, according to French media. No word yet on when the car will appear or how closely it will echo the vintage design. We're hoping not too much, though were always happy when automakers take chances. We'll probably take some flack from the foreign service set, but we've always thought the DS was kind of ugly -- the sort of thing a Jetson's-era comic book artist would conjure up --with its long wheelbase, lack of a rear end and skirts. The car seems built to look at (like high-design furniture) not to move, though it's a thousand times more attractive as a convertible. For the redesign, let's lose two doors and shorten it by a quarter.
